I've been making cards for a long time. I started out when I was younger (late elementary school) and I'd make them for my parents with just drawings and words on them. I slacked off in high school and college and once I was on my own, started back up. I didn't start stamping until a few years ago. I tried scrapbooking, but the 12x12 pages were too much. I love doing cards because you get immediate gratification when you give them to someone and they take a lot less time to do!
I'm inspired by a lot of different design teams. Especially when challenges are posted and they have different inspiration pieces up. It's amazing what some of these people can do!
I don't really have a favorite technique when papercrafting. I always think of who the recipient is going to be (I very rarely make something to just have a stash), so that kind of guides me as to if I need to be simple or all-out wowing! I do enjoy using an edge distresser, though! It helps take out some aggression on paper!
I'm very excited to join the Papertrey PALs group! I'm really looking forward to having a challenge every two weeks that will hopefully push me to try new things. I seem to do a lot of the same-old, same-old, so it'll be nice to have everyone's fresh ideas. And I'm looking forward to "meeting" 14 new people!
I can't wait for our first challenge! Thanks for including me in the group!
Liz, I'm the same way... 12 x 12 was TOO big... I love the smaller canvases of the cards. :) Nice to learn what we have in common. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree, isn't it funny how you modify the card you make depending on the person and whether they will keep it or not.
ReplyDeleteHi Liz! I agree that 12X12 pages can be intimidating, I think if I ever scrapbook again I'll be doing mini albums.
ReplyDeleteI'm in total agreement on the 12x12. I have yet to finish one of the those. Look forward to knowing you.
ReplyDeleteAloha Liz! It was fun getting to know you better and I can't wait see what everyone comes up with!
ReplyDeleteLiz - wow, the Ohio contingent is strong in this group! Welcome, and I look forward to seeing how someone with your lengthy card-making history tackles the challenges!
ReplyDeleteHi Liz! I know what you mean about those 12x12 pages. I can make a card much faster. However, I have been known to take hours on them as well. Look forward to getting to know you better.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading about you, Liz. I too know what you mean about 12x12 pages. I do make them every now and then, but I prefer 8.5x11 layouts as I can do them faster. However, my heart lies with card making. Never thought I would enjoy card making so much.
